Monty absolutely adores his food..his favourites are almost all fruits, but just like us his tastes arn't always so good for him.
But on the basis of a little of what you fancy etc.. he is sometimes allowed bits of pizza, bolognese, crisps and his absolute,second to none fave..........a chip.
He once fell off his perch trying to run so fast to get the chip he saw me walking towards him with !! Chips are really no good for parrots so this is just a once in a while treat for him but he likes potato full stop.
Monty has very little fear because Senegals seem to think that they are at least twice the size they are!
He is however frightened of marbles, red nail varnish and shiny christmas tree ornaments!!!
I used to have a cat called Max who never bothered with Monty at all, in fact I used to say that Max would never touch him unless Monty walked into Maxs' mouth. (Max was quite a lazy cat). Sadly Max died aged 12 in 2004.
We now have a new kitten called Alfie who has been found once or twice hanging onto the side of Montys' cage. Watch this space to see how this relationship works out....
Monty never has learned to talk but he has proved an excellent mimic of the telephone, the microwave and text message beeping.
I had trouble finding good advice when I first bought Monty bbut an excellent book I found was The guide to Senegal parrot and his family by Mattie Sue Athan.
8th January 2006 update, Alfie no longer lives with Monty due to the fact he viewed Monty as supper!!
